Actually today the Schlei should be free again for boats. But now the Deutsche Bahn AG announces that the closure of the Lindaunis Bridge for train and ship traffic by one day until next Tuesday, March 23, 2021, until 4 a.m. needs to be extended. "We are working intensively on eliminating the disruption," it says.
As if that weren't enough, another closure has already been announced, which is likely to annoy many sailors on the Schlei even more: At the end of May, when the season is long underway, the dilapidated structure will not be passable with a standing mast for five days. From May 24th to 29th should the bridge stay down again.
The WS had previously known that the bridge too from April 12th to 14th is blocked for work.
Background: As in previous years, the ailing old bascule bridge in Lindaunis, which will be replaced by a new building in the next few years, is causing problems. After the unusually cold winter, which may also have affected the bridge, some repair work is necessary, which results in the current closure.
