Both companies are in Finnish hands, so it's logical that they should work together in what is currently a rapidly growing market, according to Oceanvolt and Elan. So from now on all models from the shipyard up to the GT6 are available with electric drives. This makes Elan the first series shipyard to offer an E option for all models. The large units have two motors at the same time, which reduces space requirements and increases maneuvering comfort and recuperation.

Elan wants to offer packages that are adapted to their needs in cooperation with the customers. "We talk to the customer, prepare an energy balance and then suggest the optimal system for it," says David Rajapakse, Marketing Manager at Elan electric cooking and heating), generating (plus solar and wind) and hybrid (plus a generator) ", continues Rajapakse. All packages can be expanded with additional battery packs. Every e-boat is a project and is created in close cooperation with the customer.

According to Rajapakse, the 20 to 30 percent additional price relates to the entrée package in the smallest yacht, the E3. The percentage decreases as the model gets larger and increases depending on the package and battery pack chosen. An E3 with 10 kW drive and 13.3 kW / h battery pack costs 28,490 euros extra compared to the standard equipment. For the GT6, two 15 kW drives with 45.6 kW / h battery pack cost 87,490 euros extra. The whole thing with the better servoprop costs another 11,763 euros. Additional battery packs cost around 1000 euros per kW / h.

This makes Elan the first major manufacturer to offer electric drives for the entire range. How this is accepted remains to be seen. Click here to get to the manufacturer's website.
