"So far all Sunbeams have been evolutions, the new one will be a revolution", announces managing director Andreas Schöchl. The shipyard does not want to present much, an initial public presentation only provides an outline. It shows a pronounced inverse bow, a large fixed bowsprit above and suggests a positive deck jump. There does not seem to be a backstay, which suggests a fathead mainsail. Two wheels can be seen, which would be a novelty for the shipyard. First key data: ten meters long, three meters wide, draft 1.8 meters, weight four tons.
The designer is again the Slovenian office of Jakopin & Jakopin. This time the industrial designer Gerald Kiskaus Salzburg is on board for the design and further input. Addressed to the shipyard team, he says in a first image video (see below) the sentence that seems to best describe the boat: "Be brave or be very brave!" Apparently, the decision was made in favor of variant 2, but it was largely left open what this meant.
Andreas Schöchl on the new Sunbeam 32.1
According to Andreas Schöchl, the approach was to define a target group and serve them perfectly: "Sailing is still the central topic, it is ultimately a yacht. But above all it was about life on the water and the use of one The boat should be the starting point for many water sports activities or be used intensively when there is no wind. Keyword private bathing platform and retreat area for relaxing and sunbathing; especially important for those who want more privacy and space than at one place public bathing beach. " The publicly accessible areas around the water are becoming fewer and fewer and are further promoting this desire, according to the managing director. But people want to be on the water, be it with stand-up paddleboards, their own sailboat or just to swim. This is where the 32.1 should start.
One measure is the maximization of the deck area, they call it "flight deck" and the optimization of the space in the cockpit, in addition there should be a large bathing platform, which is "unrivaled in terms of space and functionality in this boat size Processing at a high level would round off the experience on deck, "says Schöchl. The interior should look loft-like and does not need a partition to the foredeck. Large windows can also be seen. Schöchl: "The interior is clean, modern and stylish without sacrificing the feel-good factor." The website for the project: www.sail32.com
