Plan drawing of the Grand Soleil 44 Performance
The roots of the yacht builders at Cantiere del Pardo in Italy are clearly in the performance sector. After a remarkable and committed expansion of the range with the more tour-oriented LC line (Long Cruise), the shipyard now seems to be focusing on its core competencies again. A year ago, at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf, the shipyard announced a new and powerful 44-footer for the sporty performance series and, as a surprise, presented the ORC specialist Matteo Polli as a designer.
Visually and conceptually, the ship fits seamlessly into the Italians' offerings. And yet there are significant innovations, especially in the construction. The most eye-catching design feature is the round, but still flat frame at the stern with the strongly drawn-in waterline. The design language is typical of Polli's quick and successful designs. The new 44 Performance is offered in two versions as a sporty Gran Turismo or as a performance-optimized regatta boat for team sports. The prices for the ship start at around 380,000 euros from the shipyard, excluding sails.
The test of the Grand Soleil 44 performance can be found in YACHT, issue 2/2021. The booklet is available in the DK shop (click) or can be ordered digitally here (click)
