Now it is certain: boot Düsseldorf 2021 will not take place. Due to the ongoing pandemic and the associated global lockdown measures, the exhibition management has decided to cancel the water sports fair on the Rhine for 2021.
According to Wolfram N. Diener, Chairman of the Management Board of Messe Düsseldorf, execution on the planned alternative date from April 17 to 25 is no longer guaranteed under the given circumstances:
"The persistently high number of infections and the currently unpredictable end of the lockdown make a resumption of trade fair operations at the end of April increasingly unrealistic. We have reassessed the situation with our partners and decided together to cancel boot 2021 early. Our priority is this Health and planning security of our exhibitors, visitors and service providers. All activities will now be concentrated on the successful implementation of boot 2022."
According to current planning, it will not take place again until the end of January 2022 - from January 22 to 30, 2022.
The now definitive cancellation was preceded by the postponement to April at the beginning of December, which caused a mixed response. Most recently, however, the trade fair had to accept a major setback with the cancellation of the Beneteau Group. Without Beneteau's participation - the group includes twelve brands, including Jeanneau, CNB, Lagoon and Excess - the fair would have had to take place without the largest yacht exhibitor. Other manufacturers such as Hanseyachts, Oyster, X-Yachts and Grand Soleil had already canceled their participation.
Boot Tulln 2021 canceled, catamaran fair postponed
The Austrian boat fair, Boot Tulln, will not take place again until next year due to the pandemic. The organizers have postponed the date to March 3-6, 2022.
"Unfortunately, at the beginning of 2021 it became clear that the current number of infections was not declining and the latest development around the Covid-19 mutation does not allow any prospect of an improvement in the current situation by the beginning of March. As a trade fair organizer, we have to take this situation into account", the decision is justified.
The multihull fair in LGrande Motte, France, was postponed to a later date. It should now take place from April 28th to May 2nd, 2021.
