The announcement of a new, second catamaran line from Beneteau / CNB has caused a stir in the multihull scene. A year ago, at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf 2019, the first specific information and views became known. The boats of the new model series Excess Catamarans should differentiate themselves from the Lagoon line with a generally sportier concept and are therefore aimed at a young and active sailing clientele.
The first models of the series, the types Excess 12 and Excess 15, do not present themselves as completely newly developed ship concepts, but rather as variants of the comparably large travel cats from the Lagoon series - with significant modifications. With the new Kats from Excess, the steering positions are no longer raised on the side or on the flybridge, but are positioned aft at the level of the outside cockpit. In addition, the boats are built lighter than their sisters from the Lagoon program, the rigs are higher and the sail area is larger.
