Asymmetrical plug-in swords, a high rig with a lot of sail area, a weight-saving design and comparatively slim hulls should give the new Outremer 55 greater speeds and more height on the wind than the competition from the camp of the kats, which are also widespread in the charter business. That is an argument even from the aspect of environmental protection. "If you look at the wind statistics for the western Mediterranean, for example, you can sail 95 percent of the time spent on the water if the boat is already working at five knots of wind," calculates sales manager Matthieu Rougevin-Baville. But if the boat needs eleven knots of wind and more, you only have 36 percent of the time to sail. With a total length of almost 17 meters, the Outremer should weigh only 13.74 tonnes empty; a comparably large catalytic converter comes to a whopping 28 tons.
In order to save weight, for example, a flybridge was dispensed with and the traveler is mounted in the cockpit. The boat can be steered directly from the cockpit or while standing or sitting on deck. This is made possible by pivoting control columns. The helmsman can choose between a perfect view of the sails and waves or work well protected under the bimini. A bench on the wheel on deck for two people ensures comfort. The tiller steering usually offered by Outremer in addition to the bike is not available for the 55.

The cockpit and saloon merge almost seamlessly
The boat is available with four or three chambers. If the more generous variant is chosen, the entire starboard hull is a cabin with a separate wheel. Special emphasis was placed on good natural ventilation, which should be ensured by opening hull windows and a sliding door that can be opened wide in the superstructure. The interiors can be highly individualized.
However, the shipyard has not yet communicated a price. Outremer belongs to the shipyard group Grand Large Yachting, which includes the brands Gunboat (carbon catamarans) as well as Garci (aluminum cruising yachts) and Allures (aluminum cruising yachts) and recently also RM Yachts (performance cruiser made of GRP and plywood). The German dealer for Outremer is Klaus Tietze with his FirmCat Sale.
