A stand-up paddle board - or SUP for short - is standard equipment on many yachts; in the Mediterranean anyway and increasingly also in the North and Baltic Seas and German inland areas. The reasons are varied and can only partially be explained by the general trend: The SUP can be used both in the bay and in the harbor for sporty pastime, but it can also serve as a dinghy replacement to get to the beach and to the beach quickly Baker to arrive. It is much more space-saving and ready to use faster, plus the good feeling of having already done something for your fitness instead of flipping to the beach with a crackling outboard motor.
Width and thickness are particularly important when choosing the right board. In the SUP world everything is measured in feet and inches, the optimal board width for hobby paddlers ranges from 30 to 36”(76 to 92 centimeters). The thickness should be between 5 and 6 "(12 and 15 centimeters), but never less than 4" (about 10 centimeters), because the board then offers too little buoyancy and is very wobbly.
