A traditional kerosene lamp served as a reference
During the short summer nights with hardly ending dusk, sailors had almost forgotten what lighting is good for. It is getting dark early now. And whether as work light on the winch or as lighting for a cozy evening - the lantern now has to be dug out of the locker again. LED lanterns can provide pleasant light.
We tested both inexpensive models such as the lights from Semptec, Lunartec and Clas Ohlson for less than 20 euros and those in the medium price range above 30 euros (Uco and HydrLight). And the high-priced segment was also represented, in the form of the Apollo from Black Diamond, the LED lantern from Barebone and the Sunbell from Bright.
