The field of view of the binoculars to be tested was measured with the collimator. To do this, the device simulates a distance of 1000 meters
For some water sports enthusiasts, binoculars are just a maritime antique. If today's skipper wants to know what's going on on the water, he looks at one of the many monitors that, depending on the system and function, provide information on position and navigation, ship traffic and other relevant data.
What these monitors do not show, however, are the fishing flags, which are not visible in any electronic nautical chart or on the radar. Or the floating debris just below the surface. Not to mention the helpless shipwrecked man who wants to be seen.
Therefore, binoculars should be on board. It should be robust and insensitive to impacts, and it should provide a clear, bright image until dusk.
