A Package Full Of Surprises For Christmas

The brothers Dennis and Dean Hennevanger are known to have a penchant for something special. Now the busy and innovative yacht builders in IJmuiden are making the best Christmas present themselves - with the public presentation of their latest project, Saffier SE 37 Lounge. The first pictures and information have just been published on the Saffier Yachts website.

It will not only be the largest, but also the most exciting boat in the history of Saffier Yachts. As an outstanding feature of the Saffier SE 37 Lounge, the two control stands are built right on the cabin bulkhead, the outside cockpit is behind it. The layout is unique in its form on the market. So far, nobody has dared to do such a special arrangement.

All sheets, traps and trim lines are led below deck into the two central work and control areas. The helmsman can operate all functions directly (electrically or manually) and does not have to leave his seat. There will also be various options for additional design options in the cockpit. The entire outdoor area can be covered with a foldable bimini and the steering positions can be protected with a spray hood. A fold-out cockpit table can be lowered into the cockpit floor when not in use, and a large sunbathing area is available aft for sunbathing.

As always, the idea and the construction plans come from Dennis and Dean Hennevanger. According to the concept, the boat is a thoroughbred daysailer, but also with a distinctly sporty side. For this purpose, a high, high-performance aluminum rig from Seldén is attached to the boat and a slim, efficient T-keel is attached. Two variants with a 1.70 or 2.10 meter draft are provided for the fin. And for the first time ever, the Dutch are now also offering a ship with a swivel keel variant. In this case, two rudder blades are attached to the boat. Falling dry in tidal waters should therefore be possible without any problems.

For even more potential, the ship will have a fixed bowsprit for the gennaker and Code Zero. The Saffier SE 37 Lounge can also be equipped with either a self-tacking jib or a briefly overlapping genu (108 percent).

The planned interior design also provides another surprise, with the Hennevangers still working on the details. A generously designed but open forward cabin with its own toilet area is planned. Unusually, a long pantry line attached to the side is planned in the salon. A sofa bunk and a dog berth on the port side complement the living space below deck with up to four possible beds.

The hull and deck are designed as a GRP sandwich construction with a foam core. A 3-cylinder Yanmar diesel engine with saildrive is installed for motorization. Saffier Yachts in Holland is currently working on the prototype and hopes to be able to sail with it for the first time by summer 2017. The first price announcement has already been made: 249,900 euros, including sails and 19 percent VAT.

Saffier Yachts will present the project to all interested parties in January at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf. In addition to the renderings and plans, the Dutch also have an exciting 3D presentation in their luggage. The shipyard is represented in Hall 15, Stand B 24.
