Clear lines. The Luffe 3.6 continues the design of the 45s. She looks extremely pretty under sail
A full 20 centimeters more freeboard than the previous model, the statement inevitably casts doubt on the designer's aesthetic sensibility. In this case, however, it is the Dane Oluf Jørgensen and the Luffe 3.6. It's only about 0.6 centimeters per year - because the previous model, the Luffe 37, dates from 1979. And yes, just as the new 36er is alongside the floating jetty in Kolding, Denmark, the increase in height is unmistakable. But that doesn't seem inelegant, on the contrary, the new one is much more mature and remains a real Luffe.
The lines follow the big sisters 4004 and 45. The width has increased with the height. The 36er has grown a full 41 centimeters to 3.16 meters. With a length-to-width ratio of just under 3.5 to 1, however, it still belongs to the super slim category.
In YACHT 5/2014 you can read to what extent the increase in size is noticeable below deck and whether the usual good Luffe sailing performance is offered despite the comfortable cosiness.
