At first and second glance, Linjett's Shogun 50 is reminiscent of the Swan 50, and this is by no means a coincidence. The Shogun initiator is the Swede Mats Bergryd, an owner of this type from the Finnish Nautor shipyard. However, Bergryd was looking for a boat for the small crew that is easier to handle and has less depth for its home waters of the Baltic Sea, but is just as fast as the Swan 50 and is also suitable for regattas. With these specifications he commissioned the Swedish designers Hakan and Oscar Södergren, who in turn brought the Linjett shipyard Rosättrins Spiel. Experts such as Marström Composite, Diab, Vaxholm Composit and, for mold construction, Macromould, who also work for Hallberg-Rassy, are involved in the project.

The joint venture is manufacturing the new performance cruiser entirely from a carbon-foam sandwich using a vacuum infusion process. The furniture is also made of carbon fiber, but is veneered. The boat is said to weigh only 7.8 tons, 45 percent of which is in the keel bomb. The fin is made entirely of solid carbon and can be pulled into a cassette, reducing the draft from 3.5 to the required 2.00 meters.

The mast is relatively far aft, which allows a larger foresail. The main is designed as a fathead, the rig is equipped with double eight stays. The gennaker boom can be extended 1.8 meters from a central tube. A self-tacking jib is provided, as are electric winches. The double rudders are made quite large to further improve control. The strongly negatively inclined bow and the offset, sharp formations, which are occasionally used on sport cats as a splash repellent and to reinforce the foredeck, are striking.

The interior has an active area for sails and packing and a passive area for sleeping and relaxing. The first boat is equipped in a very minimalist way according to the wishes of the owner. Shogun is still a single project. Since the boat is created entirely in forms, it can be reproduced as a series and is then largely customizable. In addition to the production of the Linjett series and service work, the Rosättra shipyard wants to establish individual and small series projects as a third pillar. A price for the Shogun 50 has not yet been communicated.
