When the voices of around 400 guests in the lecture hall of the Hamburg Museum of Ethnology drop because the spiritus rector of the scene Wilfried Horn takes the floor, friends of classic yachts know that magical hours are ahead of them, forgetting winter and looking forward to anticipation Let the upcoming season arise.
As in every year, the program is diverse, says Horns and does not want to mention all the points - because that has also been part of the concept for more than twenty years: The guests are surprised during the course of the evening. From regatta outlooks and reviews, travel reports and such about current restoration projects. In any case, the short presentations will be accompanied by top-class photography. Also compulsory: the annual freestyle of the winners of various Freundeskreis prizes.
Some of the topics are known in advance this year. The 25th anniversary of the "Hamburg Summer Classics" regatt will be the subject of a review, as will the 2016 regatta season in general. In the foyer, Kerstin Schulz presents her photo exhibition "Boat building up close", which has been telling the story of the restoration of the 45 national cruiser "Gaudeamus" and the construction of a similar ship from an artistic point of view since January 26th in the Seemuseum Kreuzlingen.
In addition to musical surprises, the museum crew awaits visitors with culinary delights in the restaurant. The meeting is open to everyone, no registration is required, and there is no entry fee.
