The time has just passed. It has only been a year since a team around Hamburg's Sven Jürgensen started much more than just a regatta with the HelgCup: A good 60 women's crews from all over Germany and beyond responded to the call to come to this new regatta format on the Alster. A weekend only sailors among themselves, with each other on land, against each other on the track - expectations were exceeded and the HelgCup was a complete success. Everyone was flashed, including us at the YACHT.

An ambitious plan: from strangers to girlfriends

It was already clear at the award ceremony in June 2018: next time we want to be on the water - with a crew of YACHT readers who should grow together. Four strangers who want to get to know each other and harmonize as a team, who want to start, turn, practice gennaker maneuvers over and over again. And who want to rock the regatta course at the next HelgCup - which will officially open tomorrow, Friday.

Several dozen applications were received from all over the country, and it was finally clear in autumn 2018: Tine, Leonie and Katjaus Hamburg as well as Anetaus Berlin seem to be exactly the right ones for our YACHT reader team.

About northern lights and reader ladies

Even at the premiere of the HelgCup, the team names of the crews from Germany, Austria and the USA ensured smiles and guesswork. These were the "Glüxgirls" from Glücksstadt, "AUT of Control" from Austria or "Not Only Boy Toy" as well as many other original ideas that showed even before the first signal that the HelgCup was about more than the list of results on Sunday afternoon. But also about making contacts, reviving old crew constellations and making new friendships.

And the name of the YACHT team?

It was a difficult birth, admittedly, in which list-wise proposals - from "Northern Lights" to "Reader Ladies" - were discarded and yet again considered. It was finally clear that Tine, Leonie, Anet and Katjunter with the team name "DYACHT das Herz" would be there for the weekend.

Time for the schedule - and off on the water
