Regatta sailing only with women - does that make sense and is it fun? Yes, yes, that was shown by the first HelgCup 2018, an intense regatta weekend for women's crews of very different levels: from cruising sailors to "Tutima" crews to DSV squad sailors, the range of services at the first German keelboat championship was only for women. Sailed on J / 70 and Seascape 24, which the organizer provided.
Starting scenario. Short, fast races are the concept of the cup
In addition to the sporting events on the water, the HelgCup was shaped by a lively exchange between the crews from all over Germany, Austria and the USA, which began months in advance, e.g. with joint regatta workshops and training sessions.
After the success of the Helga Cup premiere, it quickly became clear that there would be a repetition in the coming year - and that the YACHT then wanted to get involved on the regatta course: with a team of readers!
Wanted: female sailors for the crew
Would you like to be there? We are looking for female sailors who want to join this team at the HelgCup 2019. From June 13-16, 2019 it is organized by the North German RegattVerein (NRV) on the Hamburg Outer Alster. It is sailed in four-person crews on keelboats, in short races, similar to the Bundesliga format.
Important: the training
Of course, you have to train properly beforehand. Various weekends are planned for the first half of 2019, mainly in northern Germany. The exact dates have not yet been set and will be coordinated as soon as the crew is complete.
Who can apply?
All sailors who are fit, enjoy regatta sailing and who want to grow together as a team, and who have the time and motivation for training weekends and the HelgCup. Regatta experience is an asset, but not a must.
