In the spring of 2009, the French bravely launched a new line for the upscale luxury segment in Les Herbiers. The offer should be aimed at a discerning clientele and set itself apart from the Sun Odyssey tour program, which is more in line with the mass market. The concept worked and has evidently been well received by the market. To date, the exclusive premium set from Jeanneau includes three models with lengths of 51, 54 and 64 feet. Now there is one more thing: The new Jeanneau Yachts 60 is supposed to close the gap at 60 feet (17 meters) hull length.
The shipyard has just announced the Yachts 60 project at its dealer conference. The first information is exclusively available to YACHT online. Much has not yet become known, but the material at hand seems to be a big surprise package. The construction plans come (as for all ships in Jeanneau's Yachts range) by Philippe Briand. Andrew Winch takes care of the design and styling. The Briton is considered the authority on the interior design of exclusive superyachts. Obviously, compared to the sister models, the new ship will be considerably fuller, especially in the foredeck area. In addition, the rise in the hull seems to be more pronounced, which should provide more volume below deck. And the stern will be even wider in proportion, which makes the installation of two rudder blades necessary.
Jeanneau Yacht 60 version "Leisure" with fixed dogder and bimini
As a result, Jeanneau can provide a closed garage for the dinghy in the stern, which is installed at an angle to the side - a hitherto unknown arrangement in ships of this size. Another new feature is the permanently attached bowsprit as an attachment point in front of the gennaker or Code Zero as well as a double function as an anchor bracket. Under the name "Leisure", the large Jeanneau is offered in a blue water version with a powerful, solid dodger over the companionway and a solid cockpit canopy in the form of a bimini, similar to a catamaran.
For the interior fit-out, Jeanneau has developed a large number of versions with three to a total of six cabins. Due to the asymmetrical installation of the dinghy garage aft, owners can get a very spacious master cabin with a private bathroom on request. In front of the main bulkhead, there is a choice of one or two double cabins, each with its own bathroom. The forepeak can optionally be expanded with another two-person chamber, a cabin for the skipper with a separate toilet room or as a sail load with a workshop. The layouts with the possible variants are shown in the following picture series.
Jeanneau plans to show the new Yachts 60 as a world premiere at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf next January. The prices, however, have not yet been determined. The shipyard is currently working on their calculation and the detailed standard specifications.
