The Neel-Trimarans brand will probably go down in the history of yacht building as one of the most innovative. Founder and owner Eric Bruneel's idea of combining the performance potential of trimarans with the luxurious living options of catamarans worked very well despite initial doubts. For ten years, the shipyard based in LRochelle has continuously improved and expanded the exclusive concept, with up to four types between 45 and 65 feet. And now the first generation change is coming up. The launch model Neel 45 (project presentation in YACHT 9/2013), which received a lot of attention at the beginning, has had its day and is being replaced by the slightly smaller and significantly less wide Neel 43. The shipyard has recently issued initial plans and opinions. The plan is for the new ship to swim and sail in April 2021.
Neel 43
Compared to the larger Neel 47, which was recently presented in the test (YACHT 8/2020), the side hulls of the Neel 43 are no longer or only partially habitable. With the new, smaller trimaran, the deckhouse is therefore pulled further outwards in order to create more usable space in the central living area. The Neel 43 is expanded with a spacious, separate owner's cabin on saloon level. Another double berth for the guests or for the children is only partially separated from the salon. In addition, the seating area in the salon can also be converted into a comfortable double bed with a lowerable table. Together with additional berths in the foredeck of the central hull and in the side hulls, up to ten berths could finally be available on the Neel 43. However, there is only one toilet room.
The construction of the Neel 43 comes again from Marc Lombard. The aggressive hull shapes with the negative stems in wavepiercer style are visually striking. Stubby keels on the side hulls prevent drift and ensure a good height on the wind. The high, sporty sail plan with a battened mainsail and overlapping genu is responsible for the high performance potential. The steering position is raised to the side and can be reached both from the side deck and directly from the outside cockpit.

All large molded parts for the Neel 43 are made as GRP sandwich constructions using the vacuum infusion process. A highly compressed foam core is used as an intermediate material, and the structures are laminated with osmosis-resistant vinyl ester resin. The trimaran experts in LRochelle have already received five orders for the smallest model in the range, right from the first plans. The prices are already well known: the exciting touring trimaran is expected to cost 356,760 euros for the market launch in the basic version from the shipyard.
