The Shogun 50 celebrates its first appearance at the Stockholm boat show "Allt för Sjön". But that's not all, the Swedes are also announcing the development of a 42-foot model. So far, however, only a side view of the fuselage and the technical data have been published. The lines with pronounced spray rails at the bow are even more aggressive than on the 50-footer.
So that the boat not only looks fast, but also sails that way, it is made entirely of carbon fiber and should be very light. The design provides for a displacement of 6.3 tons, which is two tons less than a comparably large X 4.3 or an XP 44. In contrast to the large Shogun, the 42 does not have a lifting keel. The draft should be 2.5 meters.
Big and jib have 116 square meters of sail area, which is almost 20 square meters more than a comparable X. The Shogun's sail load rating is 5.8. A retractable gennaker trunk or a nose nose cannot be seen on the rendering, but one of both should be provided.
As with the 50-footer, the carbon specialists Waxholm Composite and Marström are part of the team. RosättrBåtvarv is responsible for the construction, rigging and sails are being developed together with North Sails. The first Shogun 42.6 is scheduled to swim in 2021. The shipyard has not yet announced a price.
