In the international IRC racing circuit, the 2019 season was characterized by a young and extremely exciting competition. The new competition for performance cruisers by ten meters of hull length (classes IRC C / IRC Double) is called: J / 99 (test in YACHT 11/19), Sun Fast 3300 (test in YACHT 12/19), MMW 33 (test in YACHT 22/19) as well as the JPK 1030 - all brand new types with the year 2019 and a very promising performance potential. Accordingly, all three models brought the 2019 season to a very successful end in an ambitious comparison and were also able to meet the expectations placed in them.
Jean-Pierre Kelbert (JPK) realized the JPK 1030 as a further development of the also extremely successful JPK 1080 (test in YACHT 19/2014) in his small but fine production in the French Brittany. The concept remains essentially the same. Means: Sport in focus, high performance, orientation towards IRC handicap, but also suitable for touring, albeit limited. Kelbert has given the construction for his latest project back into the hands of his compatriot Jacques Valer. Typical of his design is the pronounced curve of the bow in the area of the waterline, the wide stern and the equally distinctive chines.
The YACHT editorial team was on board the JPK 1030 for a test in Lorient, albeit in rather unfortunate conditions: little wind and pouring rain. YACHT photographer Jean-Marie Liot photographed the boat on another occasion and made his pictures available to us for the following gallery.
