No kidding - on April 1st, two new pay machines will be put into operation in Kiel-Holtenau, at which sport boaters will in future be able to pay the fee due when they travel through the Kiel Canal.
One machine is located on the fjord side at the pleasure craft berth and one in the Kiel Canal in front of the lock on the floating jetty on the north side.
In addition, cash can be paid to the inspector at the Gieselau lock during operating hours at the lock manager and in Brunsbüttel at the pleasure craft berth in the Kiel Canal. Recreational boaters receive a receipt at the paying offices, which they must carry with them for control purposes during the journey. The receipt is valid for three days.
