The German ocean sailing association Trans Ocean e. V. reports that the application deadline for the annual prizes for long-distance sailors has been brought forward this year. The deadline is August 15, 2018.
The TO website states:
This year, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the association, the coveted awards for circumnavigations, special trips, outstanding achievements or participation in regattas on Friday, September 28, as well as the Trans-Ocean Prize and the Ocean Award during the gala evening on September 29 in Cuxhaven are awarded, the application deadline has also moved forward.
Only applications and travel descriptions that have been received by the office by August 15th can be considered by the jury.

Last year, four crews received TO medals for successfully crossing the Northwest Passage, including Heide and Erich Wilts with the "Freydis". Susanne Huber-Curphey ("one-hand for two", Delius Klasing) had received the TO price for her one-hand crossing of the Northwest Passage from west to east with her aluminum yacht "Nehaj". Jimmy Cornell had received the "Ocean Award" for his contribution to blue water sailing.
