Gone are the days when individual displays had to be installed for log, echo sounder, compass or wind. At least if you look at Raymarine's latest line of instruments. With the ST70 Plus system, a display instrument is sufficient to show all data from the speed, depth, wind, GPS or compass sensors.

The instrument consists of a 16.4 centimeter color display with so-called VGA resolution (640 by 480 pixels), which should be easy to read even in strong sunlight. As with the smaller ST70 displays, the data can be displayed either with analog pointers or as a numerical value. Which values are displayed how and in which combination is largely freely programmable. Up to eight different configurations can be saved. The size of the display and the digits also allow remote mounting positions, for example as a maxi display on the rear edge of the mast. So that the instrument can still be adjusted from the cockpit, the control unit is separated from the display from the start. Depending on the area of application, there are three different keypads to choose from, including a version for sailing yachts. In addition to the basic functions, it can also be used to control a Raymarine autopilot. The display is available for 1490 euros and the Sailpilot control panel for 510 euros. In addition, there are of course the corresponding sensors for wind, plumb bob and log. As interfaces for this, the Raymarine system has the manufacturer's typical Seatalk bus and an NMEA 2000 input, via which, for example, engine data can be displayed or external encoders can be integrated
