Unfortunately, sailing centers are rare. You have to imagine it as a mixture of school and charter company, holiday camp and beach bar. So demanding and encouraging, but also extremely casual. The best known are Wildwind in Greece, Sail & Surf Pollens on Mallorca and the Stickl Sportcamp on Lake Garda.
Recently there was also an equivalent in Croatia, the most popular Mediterranean area for Germans and Austrians. In a beautiful corner of Dalmatia, in Jezerauf Murter, only ten nautical miles southeast of the Kornati National Park, BarbarBrencic and her partner Ivan Nemet practice Free Spirit Sailing.
What makes them special is not only that they only have seascapes - currently two 18s and two 24s. From the coming season, two Seascape 14s, the new one and two-man gliding dinghy (test soon in the YACHT), are to be added. If there is no or too much wind, half a dozen SUPs are available for paddling and mountain bikes for island tours.
Free Spirit offers one of the most diverse programs of courses and activities: from beginner to regatta training, from bareboat charter to guided flotilla trips to the most beautiful bays of the Kornati islands, which can often only be reached by swing keel boats to let.

During the Chasing Kornati Week, a small flotilla takes you to the top spots in the national park
If you are traveling with a large charter yacht from Biograd, Zadar, Trogir or Split, you can do in the ACI-Marinvon JezerHalt and only try out one of the Seascapes on a daily basis, provided that it is not chartered out for a long 250 euros for the 24; 10 percent discount from three days).
In addition, there are a number of other events, such as family courses and trips as well as the Freedive Sailing Week, where a diving instructor accompanies the participants and teaches apnea diving during the sailing breaks.
For last-minute travelers, here are the next dates for the guided flotilla trips, which Free Spirit calls "Chasing Kornati Week".
- August 18th to 24th
- September 15-21
The participants can choose to sleep on the boats or in a Konobauf on the Kornati islands, which serves as a base and refreshment station for the duration of the trip. More information here.
