Lefkas has had a good reputation with the Austrians since the premiere of the new long-distance regatt "The Race" from Biograd to this island: crews and company boss Klaus Pitter were enthusiastic about the place, the hospitality of the people there and the beauty of the coast. So he decided that his company absolutely had to have a basis here. In time for the second 1000-mile race in October of this year, he implemented the plan. The base in MarinLefkas, which belongs to the Turkish group D-Marin, opens at the start of the season. Greece is the trend destination in the Mediterranean this year and is very well booked.
A fleet of 18 yachts, 12 monohulls and 6 kats will be stationed on site. The monos are primarily Bavarias from 33 to 46 feet, plus an Oceanis 45 and an older Cyclades 50.5. The Kats include a brand new Nautitech 40 Open as well as a Lagoon 450 and some models from Fountaine Pajot.
The easiest way to get to the area is via the airport in nearby Prevez on the mainland, the transfer only takes about 20 minutes. Alternatively, you can fly via Corfu, but then you first have to take the ferry to Igoumenitsam mainland, from there it is an hour and a half by car transfer to the base.
The starting port is ideal for trips right in the heart of the Ionian Sea, the very attractive neighboring islands Meganisi, Kalamos and Kastos, but also Kephalloni and Ithak are only a few miles away. The area has many fans precisely because of these short distances and the rich selection of anchorages and marinas. If you stay two weeks, you can sail well to Zakynthos.
