The initial resistance is gradually turning into a tangible storm: After the Croatian public only really noticed via the YACHT online report what their government had quietly pushed through for massive fee increases (see video on Croatian television here), things are now simmering in Croatia's sailing forums. Posts in the "Nautica-Portal" forum have meanwhile been shared up to 30,000 times.

Now that the Croatian TV broadcaster HRT Vijesti, comparable to our public broadcasters, reported about the fee increase, the Ministry of Tourism, which did not respond to the YACHT's inquiries, was evidently compelled to comment. But that should only fuel the anger of the local sailors and the foreign owners. Minister Gari Capelli said yesterday that the increase would not be so tragic, the owners could go over to billing each stay individually, which would then be cheaper overall. Some users in Croatia commented that this does not change the fact of the sometimes over 700 percent increase, pointing out that the minister has probably already arrived at the Trump level of "alternative facts".

The Croatian sailing community is only now realizing that their special treatment in terms of fees, which is not actually provided for by law, but was actually handled in such a way that no one collected them from Croatian owners, could soon be over. Because it is clear that the state would have to collect them in the future if it does not want the law to be criticized by the EU for unequal treatment.

A current hour on the topic set by the Croatian parliament was surprisingly canceled and postponed the day before yesterday.
