Swiss national at the stern
In this country, the Hamburg boat insurance broker Pantaenius has long been offering policy packages specially tailored to holiday trips with the rental yacht. Swiss charter sailors, on the other hand, have so far had to remain outside - they have not been able to take out charter insurance from German providers and have hardly had the opportunity to do so in their own country. There was simply almost no Swiss insurance company that had the license required for the charter insurance business.
That has recently changed. As a result, Pantaenius, as an insurance broker approved in Switzerland, is now able to introduce its charter packages on the Swiss market. These can now be covered by insurers that are appropriately licensed in Switzerland.
Customers can choose between the four packages Basic, Silver, Gold and Premium. Depending on the scope selected, the packages contain skipper's liability, travel cancellation costs, accident and deposit insurance.
Variable and separate deposit insurance
In order to adapt the insurance coverage of the respective packages even more individually to the needs of the charter customers, Pantaenius also offers a variable deposit insurance, which can also be taken out separately. It can be used to insure charter trips in areas such as the Caribbean, where high amounts of bail are often required by the charter companies. And in return for a premium, charter customers can reduce the excess in the travel cancellation insurance to zero.
Sailors can take out the charter packages online. In general, a conclusion period of up to 21 days after the conclusion of the contract applies to the trip. If customers have missed this deadline, but the start date is at least 30 days in the future, the charter package can also be taken out. For the separate deposit insurance, insurance cover can be applied for up to the day of the start of the journey.
