Erich Schomacker (1934-2016)

Erich Schomacker died on Sunday a week ago shortly before his 82nd birthday in Hamburg. This was announced at the weekend by the management of the Hamburg yacht insurance company Schomacker Versicherungsmakler GmbH.
Erich Schomacker was born on June 9, 1934 in Berlin. He later moved to Hamburg, where he pursued a career in insurance. After various stations, he started his own business in 1972 as an insurance broker with a focus on the yacht insurance business.
His most important concerns, individual and personal service, reliability and a well-trimmed price-performance ratio are still the main pillars of all customer relationships, according to a company statement. In June 2007, after 35 years, Schomacker handed the management over to his son-in-law Volker Reichelt and Andreas Medicus, who both joined the company in the mid-1990s and have managed it to this day. "We lose a fatherly friend and mourn a great person, with rough edges and an always clear path," said Reichelt.
