The sum insured for the skipper's liability is now a flat rate of ten million euros for personal injury and property damage. In return, the premiums are not increased.
Damages of this magnitude are extremely rare. However, the company wants to adapt to the competition with better coverage for its own insurance customers.
In addition, the boat insurance broker is now offering inexpensive legal protection insurance in combination with skipper liability. It is valid worldwide and the coverage in Europist is unlimited. Outside of Europe, a maximum of 100,000 euros is insured. In general, there is a maximum assumption of costs in accordance with German law on fees abroad.
The policy also includes: penalty bond loans of up to EUR 200,000, compensation, administrative, "passive" criminal and administrative offense legal protection.
Skipper liability costs 72 euros per year for sailing yachts up to 10 meters in length, 98 euros for sailing yachts up to 15 meters in length and 158 euros beyond that. The additional legal protection costs ten euros per year for six - even individual - charter weeks, and 20 euros for year-round legal protection.
The skipper's liability applies to the responsible skipper and also covers claims of the crew among themselves. The legal protection addition only applies to the skipper.
