Sibylle Merk, Markus Reger and Günther Schlegel are the names of the new board members of the Bavarian Sailing Association (BSV). In the words of election supervisor Max Trimolt, the three won "with a large majority" against the still incumbent candidates Dietmar Reeh as well as Christian Spöhrer and Jürgen Jentsch.

The virtual general meeting of the Bavarian Sailing Association lasted just a short time yesterday evening. After the election results had been announced, brief reports and words of thanks were given to the new board members, and it was over after just 60 minutes.

The Bavarian Sailing Association had postponed the general meeting from spring to autumn due to corona and held the decision by postal vote before the online meeting. At least since it had become clear in advance that the Bavarian sailing scene was rumbling (see report on YACHT online), the results had been awaited with some excitement.

Almost 70 participants were there live. With the election of Sibylle Merk, known to many as an Olympic participant in Atlant still by her maiden name Powarzynski, four of the 16 state sailing associations in Germany are now run by women.

By opting for Merk / Reger / Schlegel, the sailors in Bavaria not only voted for a new course and a breath of fresh air, but also for open cooperation: "In the many discussions we received colorful and honest feedback We want to answer all of them with the same energy level. We want to build on some things, some things will be new, "emphasized Merk at her introduction.

Only after taking stock of the situation will the new board of directors then approach the members with specific plans. According to Merk, the next general meeting should be called as early as possible in the coming year. This will probably be held online - without much travel effort for the 200 clubs scattered all over Bavaria in 60 districts.

Dietmar Reeh said goodbye with words of thanks and promised good cooperation during the handover: "It's up to you now", he said and wished his successors "good luck!"
