Wiedekamm's resignation took place on Tuesday. The members of the long-distance drivers' association were informed of this yesterday in a letter published on the Trans-Ocean homepage. This is signed by the deputy chairman Egon Lutomsky and the honorary chairman of TO Wolfgang Quix.

Peter Wiedekamm, TO chairman from November 2019 to September 2020
The letter says that Wiedekamm's move was a complete surprise for the rest of the board of directors and the honorary council. And further: "Without giving details, Peter Wiedekamm gave personal reasons for this." Of course, we respect Peter's personal motivation and for this reason we will not participate in any speculation. Peter emphasized that his decision was irreversible."
This means that the association, which seemed to have found itself in calmer waters after years of quarrels, is again facing a major challenge: One or more candidates for the vacant board position must be found by the annual general meeting in autumn in Cuxhaven. Until the new election, Egon Lutomsky will manage the business of the association as deputy chairman, as he did last year when the chairman at the time, Martin Birkhoff, was absent due to a serious illness. The other board members have also declared that they will continue in their offices.
Peter Wiedekamm took up the new TO board with great enthusiasm in November 2019. In particular, he wanted to modernize the club structures and intensify contact with the regulars' tables and bases around the world. To this end, a new strategy advisory board had been established to take care of the long-term development of the association.
In the current letter to the TO members it says: “In his short term of office, Peter was able to achieve a lot of positive things for the association. The Executive Board and Honorary Council therefore very much regret his departure. From the beginning of his activity in November last year, he has done a very extensive workload for the association. We would therefore like to thank him for his very successful work and would like to expressly emphasize that we all enjoyed working with him."
