Large or enjoyable - the sheet should lie comfortably in the hand, be easy to stretch and durable
Without the connection from the clew to the hull, the boat will not sail a mile - however, the bulkhead rigging is usually given little attention. As a rule, the initial equipment must be as inexpensive as possible, and in the following, only price, color and grip are essentially the selection criteria of many skippers. Which may also be due to the fact that the offer is confusing and the actual properties of a line on the outfitter's ropes rack can hardly be assessed.

On the test bench: In addition to breaking load and elongation, we also assessed the behavior on the winch
We have therefore examined the current products from manufacturers available in Germany and defined two typical scenarios: cruising boats with large, overlapping genoa and modern performance cruisers with narrow foresails. The different rigging and sailing equipment of both boat types also determine the requirements for the cordage.
You can read in the current YACHT which of the lines performed best in the respective category, to what extent the behavior on the winch and in the hand differ and whether longevity and low price are a contradiction. Issue 4/2014 is available from February 5th at the kiosk.
