Bad weather again: dark clouds over the harbor
There are enough reasons why sailors fail to achieve a goal. Too much wind or too little or from the wrong direction, for example. Or technical defects, problems with the crew, poor trip planning - all of these things happen. But it can also be that the intended area does not fit your own sailing philosophy at all.
This is what happened to YACHT author Jürgen von Gosen, a very experienced skipper. He and his wife Monik have four months to climb the Norwegian coast northwards, attracted by the diverse enthusiasm for this stretch of land. But then everything turns out very differently, the weather doesn't cooperate, the mood gets worse, and at some point it dawns on both of them: Norway is not necessarily suitable for conservative cruise arrangements - every night in port.
