The "Dream Yacht Charter Sabbatical" program is aimed at customers who dream of a temporary break in the exotic areas, but who are unable to cope with the effort of their own yacht, or who simply do not want their ship across the Atlantic to the Caribbean or even the Want to sail the Pacific. "We want to offer such sailors a safe, turnkey solution," says Urs Rothacher, who developed the program for Dream Yacht. "As customers, we see executives or entrepreneurs who interrupt their careers and want to fulfill their dreams of a blue-water trip without making high investments and expenses." Rothacher himself carried out three blue water sabbaticals with his family between changing jobs or setting up his own company, so he knows what he's talking about.

The dream of a blue water trip without your own yacht
The core of the program is that the crews charter a ship from the Dream Yacht charter fleet for several months or even a year and go on a trip with it, for example in the Caribbean, the Pacific or from the Seychelles or Madagascar. The customers are supported by an expert team in planning the course of the trip and trained by the on-site staff for simple maintenance work. If there is a longer trip, major maintenance work is organized at fixed stops in consultation with the base. Dream Yacht CEO Loïc Bonnet is certain that there will be enough interested customers: "We know that more than every second German wants to take a break. When they are at sea, it is important and reassuring to count on someone who can offer them solid support."
At the start of the program, cruises in the Mediterranean, South Seas, Caribbean, Asia and the transatlantic are on the program. One-ways between the bases are also possible. For the new offer, Dream Yachts has also entered into a partnership with the French Kat shipyard Outremer, whose high-quality, fast kats are popular with multihull fans. Such a boat is also available on request.
The prices are of course very different depending on the area, duration and type of ship, but as a rough guide, Urs Rothacher named around 10,000 euros for a one-month charter of a 40-foot cat at the kick-off date at boot in Düsseldorf.
