Around twelve years ago, Sunsail and Moorings, both of whom have been part of the investment firmKKR for a number of years, changed their purchasing policy for multihulls: only cats from the South African shipyard Robertson & Caine, in which the two companies are significantly involved, came into the program. But the huge boom in demand for cat charter and, ultimately, the devastating damage that hurricane "Irma" caused to the Caribbean fleet in 2017 made it necessary to rethink. Now Sunsail is also using Kats from Lagoon, which were part of the fleet until 2007. As early as 2019, the boats will be back in Sunsail's program.
Many bareboat charter crews should also be pleased that the fleet operator is now offering an "Early Bird" program that makes it possible to take over the charter yacht in the Caribbean until 10 am, at the Mediterranean bases from 3 pm. So the first day of the charter should be used for sailing.
The cabin charter program, which was only introduced in 2018, has also been significantly expanded and turned out to be a huge success. Previously, such trips with skippers were reserved for the industry brother Moorings. The cabin charter trips in Croatia and Greece will have more departure dates and will also take place in the Caribbean (BVIs) for the first time.
There are also more dates for the flotillas that have been established for many years. The ports of departure for this are MarinAgans and Dubrovnik in Croatia, Lefkas in Greece and tortolin den British Virgin Islands. On site there are different routes to choose from, e.g. in Croatia to the Krka waterfalls, to Hvar or Vis, Korcul for island focal points or the area around Dubrovnik. In Greece you can choose the Meganisi route, one via Ithaca, Lefkas or Kephaloni. In the Caribbean you can go west to Jost van Dyke or east to Virgin Gord.
What is new is that there is also a flotilla for adults aged 21 and over and that participants can acquire British sailing licenses in the "Beginner" or "Hero" flotilla during the flotilla week. For this purpose, certified instructors lead the yachts and teach beginners and climbers the necessary know-how.
