Along the green coast of the Markermeer there are not only traditional ports, modern marinas and idyllic club moorings. Even today there is still plenty of space to sail, even for ambitious crews. This cannot be taken for granted, because originally the Markermeer was supposed to fall victim to land reclamation. What remains of these plans is the Houtrib dike, today's dividing line between the Marker and IJsselmeer.
