The tropical archipelago of the Maldives is hardly known to many charter crews, who have so far almost exclusively given berth charter there. But now the Swedish firmNavigare Yachting is venturing there with two smaller catamarans - which are also offered bareboat - of the type Leopard 38. The area between flat coral islands is considered to be quite demanding from a sailing point of view, there are no marinas, instead extensive atolls and reefs, the crews have to master the entrances and anchor there.
Usually a local guide is required for a charter who stays on board for the entire trip. But for crews with experience in tropical areas and at least the SKS for the skipper can go on a trip without the companion. Navigare Yachting has put together route suggestions and information about the area on their website.
The fleet can be booked through all common agencies and Argos yacht charter in Wiesbaden.
