Tug ballet for the Hamburg harbor birthday

On Thursday, May 9th at 3 pm the Hamburg Senator for Economics and Labor Gunnar Uldall will open the 813th birthday of the port on board the barque "Rickmer Rickmers". The largest traditional four-masted barque "Sedov" will again take part in the parade, as will the four-masted barque "Kruzensthern", the fast full ship "Mir" and the largest barque in the world, the "Statsraad Lehmkuhl" from Norway.

The ships, which can all be viewed, will remain in Hamburg until May 12th. The water program of the 813th Hamburg port birthday comes to an end with the big parade on Sunday (from 5.30 p.m.). Between the parades, the organizers offer the expected 1.5 million visitors from all over Germany hundreds of program items. Attractive bands play on 13 stages, in front of the Bismarck Monument there are extensive game shows and bike trails for children, the Speicherstadt with its museums and shows such as Hamburg Dungeon is included, and the Samba Night starts in the museum harbor Oevelgönne. The air program features hot air balloons, skydiving and helicopter tours. The highlights this year again include the harbor lights on Friday evening (many illuminated vehicles drive on the Elbe, and the spectators greet back from the country with lights), the tug ballet on Saturday at 6 p.m. and the fireworks afterwards at 10.30 p.m. The entire program can be found on the Internet at www.hamburger-hafengeburtstag.de.
