13 yachts of the formula-free unit racer of the 40-foot Bruce Farr design sailed off Naples at the foot of Vesuvius for the first time for points for the European class.
The foundation stone for the establishment of the racers in southern Europe was thus laid. "Struntje light" will be the only German yacht to travel the entire circuit, which includes two more stations and a European championship. Michael Illbruck has already announced his participation in Mediterranean regattas in the class, but nothing of his green and white boat was to be seen in Naples.

In just four days, the organizing yacht club Savoidie brought the planned nine races on the track as planned. At the end of the busy racing series, the Greek yacht "Atalanti" owned by George Andreadis with tactician Robbie Haynes (USA) was the winner. In an exciting final run, the German crew, supported by tactician Iain Percy (England; gold medal winner in Finn in Sydney), overtook the Italian "Nerone" with Mediterranean tactics specialist Vasco Vascotto in the overall ranking.
Since the winner "Atalanti" will not compete at the next Grand Prix in Poquerolles near Hyères / France (the event will take place at Whitsun), the German yacht virtually takes the lead in the European ranking.
