Up until now you had to be an athlete or a millionaire to pilot a fully airworthy multihull boat. There was nothing in between. The market offered sport catamarans such as Flying Phantom, Nacr20 FCS and A-Cat - or devices with a seven-digit price tag such as the Gunboat G4, which has since been further developed into the DNF4.

Now the range is expanding, and with the Easy To Fly, an aircraft suitable for amateurs is to be available for the first time, which promises a lot of fun and does not destroy it with capricious peculiarities. Not exactly a small promise.

We took the makers of Absolute Dreamer, the racing team of Vendée Globe professional Jean-Pierre Dick, at their word and tried the 160,000 euro carbon fiber catalytic converter on a test fitting in the bay of LRochelle.

When it comes to foiling, the bullet lives up to its name. With a bit of Kat experience and a knowledgeable crew, it is actually easy to get on the wings and stay in the air. However, the handling before take-off does require a certain amount of logistics - without an escort boat you can't actually get back unscathed from the port or the pier.

And maturity of character would not be wrong in view of the enormous speed potential. When the YACHT was tried out, the GPS tracker showed almost 25 knots, later up to 30 knots. Previous top speed: 36 knots. Every area, no matter how weakly it is sailed, very quickly becomes very small.

Now in the new YACHT: Everything about the boat, its potential, the ingenious trim devices and why they don't protect you from the occasional belly landing. You can read the eight-page report in issue 5/2017, from February 15 at the kiosk - or right here in the Delius Klasing online shop.
