With the new Sense 50, Bénéteau is polarizing the market for large cruising yachts. The concept differs in many ways from the usual and proven.

The divisions and subdivisions of the ship areas as well as the layouts on and below deck are unusual. The huge cockpit was only made possible by dispensing with aft cabins. This means that the cockpit is lower than that of other, conventional cruising yachts. The otherwise usual and stricter separation of interior and exterior is largely eliminated with this concept.

With the scythe, the two areas inside and outside largely merge with one another in this way. This improves communication and ensures transparency. Water sports enthusiasts who travel a lot on large cruising catamarans or motor boats know and appreciate this convenience.

There is no doubt that the Sense is a downright Mediterranean yacht. That stands for the huge cockpit with a U-shaped bench that can be converted into a large sun lounger in no time thanks to the lowerable table

The saloon area, with the long kitchenette on the starboard side and a rather small navigation system built to the rear of the cabin bulkhead, is the center of the boat and the actual switching point between inside and outside. The sense of space is simply overwhelming here.

Bénéteau wants just under 280,000 euros for the basic version of the Sense 50. In a family-internal comparison, this amount is about ten percent higher than that for the Océanis 50. The Sense 42 is being planned as the next boat in the new model series. It is to be presented to the German public at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf.
