Seven years ago, a large part of the books by the sailor and collector of sailing literature Volker Christmann moved. Since then, the world's largest collection on the subject has been held by Oliver Berking from Flensburg. He made sure that the books were sorted into the well-stocked and publicly accessible library of his Yachting Heritage Center. Since then, everyone has been able to browse the books and magazines there.

Simply continued to collect

Christmann, however, still had a lot of things twice - and kept collecting out of habit. Over the years he had achieved the goal pursued with the first collection of bringing together all German-language printed works on ThemSegeln, a second time. "But now it is finally over", the Wiesbadener told YACHT online, one could not apply for a second life. And that's how much time he would need if he wanted to continue like this. This is why the "2nd Christmann Collection" is now moving out of Wiesbaden. From next winter it will be in the Maritime Museum in Hamburg's Hafencity.

Portrait in YACHT classic

In the upcoming issue of YACHT classic, issue 2/2019, you can read a detailed portrait of the "sailor and collector" from the Rheingau. The magazine will go on sale on June 5th. But you can already order it now or subscribe to it and take part in a competition.
