Records are not for everyone. Nevertheless, they are an important part of sailing. Similar to Formula 1 for automotive engineering, after many races with ruptures and successes, they lead to new ideas for boatbuilding. In the new YACHT you will find the currently most outstanding records in our sport.

"Chasing and breaking records is the purest form of sailing," said Tracy Edwards, owner of the Maiden II, which reached the largest record in the history of sailing at 694 nautical miles, the YACHT.

Many of our readers may disagree. When you go sailing, you tend to think of rest, relaxation, and being one with nature. But the regatta world, and especially the pursuit of records, is always showing the sport of sailing in new directions. Brings new knowledge about materials that are used in boat building, or techniques that can also make life easier for cruising sailors. And ultimately, the record hunters are also the pinnacle of the sailing trade. People who fight for top performance with an iron will and tremendous perseverance.

The YACHT wants to celebrate these heroes of our sport in the course of the celebrations for the 100th anniversary with an extra booklet. They are all in it, the Fossetts, Blakes, Knox-Johnstons, Tabarlys, Connors and Erdmanns too. A small picture book with a lot of information. A compilation that has never been seen in this form before. Have fun while reading

The new YACHT, issue 13/04 will be published on June 16 at the kiosk.
