Despite the familiar environment, the last time the IDM took place on the fjord in 2015, everything will be a little different this year. The biggest change is probably the detachment from the strict up & down focus. 5 of these fast short races are announced on four regatta days, the other program includes a long distance and, at the end, a short middle distance around fixed navigation marks.

Bendix Hügelmann from the organizing regatta association Seesegeln on the background: "We have been observing for a number of years that more and more crews are focusing on sporty distance races. While medium and long-distance regattas are continuously popular, enthusiasm for fast up & down sailing stagnates. " The newly designed IDM Seesegeln tries to better correspond to this development. "There's something for everyone," says Hügelmann.

If the popularity of a regatt is not only decided on the water, but also on land, the organizing Flensburg Sailing Club promises an appealing supporting program for the sailors. "Flensburg actually offers all the prerequisites for a great regatta: the area is fun, the distances are short and the compact yacht harbor in Glücksburg is probably one of the most beautiful scenes on the coast," added Hügelmann. "Now it just has to work!"

In order to enable further reports, the FSC has set the reporting deadline for the weekend on August 20th without additional charge. For sailors who can only sail on Saturday and Sunday, the entry fee is reduced to 200 euros.

Sailors can find more information on the specially created website www.idm-Seesegeln.com or on the social media channels of RVS and FSC. Click here to report
