The Whitsunday Islands archipelago is legendary. The 74 small and large islands near the Great Barrier Reef are bathed in clear, warm turquoise water, mostly uninhabited and the sandy beaches are as white as advertised. The largest Australian archipelago got its name from Captain Cook, who "discovered" the passage on a Whitsunday Sunday in 1770. The seven kilometers of Whitehaven Beach were recently nominated for the list of the "7 Wonders of Australia". You can't think of more beautiful postcard motifs!
