A second place went to the Yngling team Kristin Wagner / AnnHölle / VeronikLochbrunner and a third place to the Kiel surfer Amelie Lux. There were no more places on the podium at the start of the season.
Most of the German participants did not find their normal form under very changeable conditions. Alexander Baronjan surfed on rank 7 in a field that was not too strong. Laser sailor Mathias Rieck, third in the previous PalmWeek, only came in 22nd, and PetrNiemann was seventh in Europe. It is important for her to be ahead of her competitor Christiane De Nijs (13th place) at the end of the eliminations.
Michael Fellmann is still ill, has lost 14 kilograms and was therefore unable to start. It will be difficult for him to get another proof of performance until the Olympics, and the DSV requires that.
Zellmer / Krabbe lost their 470 during the transport. He got stuck under a bridge. With a borrowed boat they could not cope, but ended the series with two second places. However, that was not enough for a front place. Former world champion and Athens driver Roland Gäbler finished twelfth with his bowman Gunnar Struckmann.
Amelie Lux's third place among women surfers looks better than it is. Of the top 30 at the last World Cup, just three women were at the start. Hans Sendes, DSV sports director said: "The series before Hyères did not help us in the Olympic decisions. Important are the World and European Championships as well as the Spa Regattin Holland. Only then are the Olympic candidates determined."
