Sirius 40 DS. Huge hull windows, enormous volume

As the shipyard manager Torsten Schmidt writes, the concept of the new Sirius 40 DS is based on the ideas of the last projects with the Sirius 35 DS (test in YACHT No. 10/10) and the Sirius 31 DS (YACHT No. 7/11). In addition, many suggestions and requests from customers who have expressed their ideas for a new, larger Sirius to the shipyard have now also been incorporated. In the usual collaboration with the designer Marc-Oliver von Ahlen, the first drafts have now grown out of this. In the next eight months, however, the shipyard intends to refine the concept even further and coordinate it with the comments and ideas from the customers. For this purpose, catalogs of questions should now also be actively worked through with interested parties and owners.

The new flagship will further modify the already quite diverse expansion versions of the smaller types. The high degree of individual design options actually raises Sirius yachts to the level of individual buildings. There is a wide variety of expansion variations in the aft of the 40DS with options as an owner ship for long journeys with a workshop and huge storage spaces or as an expansion with a double berth placed lengthways or transversely to the direction of the ship. There should also be numerous variants in the foredeck, for the central owner's room or for the raised saloon on the "second floor".

Just two of the many possible expansion options

Compared to the Sirius 35 DS, the new flagship 40 DS will have a significantly larger cockpit. The saloon area with the elevated navigation as an inside steering position in the protected deckhouse can also benefit from the more generous space available. However, the Sirius shipyard will only communicate the details of the equipment and technical installations in a second phase. No information is currently available on the price either.

Shipyard manager Torsten Schmidt wants to present the first plans at the boot trade fair in Düsseldorf. The stand is in Hall 16, C21.
