On March 18 and 19, on the Maas Lakes in the Limburg region, 10 kilometers from Roermond, the 16 hectare De Koeweide leisure complex will be offering a marina, campsite, new and used motor and sailing yachts and boats, dinghy rentals and more presents. The fair, which is taking place for the first time, is intended to be an annual event.
The organizers reckon with around a thousand visitors a day. 70 percent of the tourists are Germans, the rest for the most part Dutch and Belgians. No wonder, the area is right on the border triangle. With an area of around 3000 hectares, the former quarry ponds on the Maas are the largest contiguous water sports area in the Netherlands and a popular destination, especially for sailors from the Rhineland and the Ruhr area.
If you register in advance, visitors to the trade fair in Wessem can take a free trial tour of the 800 berths in the port, the holiday complex and the campsite with around 100 spaces. Depending on the weather, balloon rides are planned over the area. The area can be discovered on free mini cruises on the Meuse. The special thing about the fair: Anyone interested in new or used boats and yachts can do a trial fitting with a skipper on site. Various dinghies (Laser, Splash, Optimist) can be borrowed and tested
