When the first boats are taken out of the water in autumn and the season is drawing to a close, the YACHT, in cooperation with professional skipper Michael Wnuk, offers heavy-weather training on the "Marlin": Because the ship and crew are sure to get through really bad weather everyone should be able to do so, especially when sailing beyond the coastal waters. You can learn how to do it and what is important.

Kerstin Fähling from Farven in Lower Saxony won the place raffled by the YACHT on this heavy weather trip across the Biskay. It starts on October 7th in Portsmouth west towards Falmouth. Depending on the weather, the starting shot for the Biscay crossing will be given, possibly with a stop in Brest. The goal of LCoruñ should be achieved by October 19th. The 60-foot aluminum sloop "Marlin" is sailed by professional skipper and circumnavigator Michael Wnuk, the berth space costs 1495 euros.

The heavy weather training is part of the transfer of the "Marlin" to the Caribbean. "The trip will be demanding, oilskin and seaworthiness are very important", predicts Skipper Wnuk and promises a sailing challenge. If you still want to be there, you should register quickly, places are tight.

There are other opportunities to sail on the "Marlin" on the feeder cruise that leads from Kiel along the North Sea coast to Portsmouth in the Solent at the end of September. The program includes night watch and tidal navigation. Wnuk also offers trips to the Canary Islands and further into the Caribbean. Information and registration at www.marlin-expeditions.com.

Other special opportunities to sail along under the guidance of experienced skippers are also available in the "Events" section in the YACHT skipper training area, from pleasure trips in the British Virgin Islands to the YACHT flotilla in the Wadden Sea.
