Different rig concept, many well thought-out details and a very unique look. With the new touring line, Dufour can definitely set itself apart from the competition. The new, large boat from the series now brings the transition to a four-cabin cabin as an option and, in this layout, is particularly suitable for the charter market. The division with the divided foredeck can be dismantled with little effort if the boat should later come back to an owner. For the standard configuration, however, there are still three cabins.
The rig remains conservative: Contrary to the general trend towards a higher, slim sail plan, the mast at Dufour is shorter than that of the competition, but the size remains larger. 140 percent headsail overlap is still the standard. The Dufour 445 can prove in the test under sail that this does not have to be a disadvantage in terms of performance.
The layout on deck shows clear commitment to the houseboat. The cabin superstructure is retracted far aft in order to offer maximum living space below deck. The cockpit has to suffer from this. It is comparatively small and space is limited, especially in the area of the control system.

For more sportiness and more active sailing, a retractable bowsprit for a gennaker can be added to the boat on request. The aluminum trunk runs below deck and is guided through a molding on the hull. This leaves the forecastle free and the anchor locker easily accessible at all times.
